ABOUT ME
OLIVIA CHRISTINA
MUMMY TO ONE & ONE WITH PAWS
PHOTOGRAPHER
Hi I am Liv and the photographer here at Olivia Christina Photography
To say I love my job is an understatement. I have ALWAYS had an affinity with babies, I gravitate towards them and no matter where I am they seem to sense me and seek me out with their eyes. Waiting in line at the checkout or at a supermarket I will often be found messing around with a baby looking at me. So it is no surprise I get the results I do with newborn babies. I make them feel safe, but not only them, I go out of my way to make my clients feel comfortable and to know they are handing their precious new life over to someone safe. This normally involves me talking the hind legs off of whoever has walked through my door but fear not once I get to work, I go very quiet as I have a lot to concentrate on, like baby's skin colour, breathing, positioning (safety first), light and shade, camera settings, light settings, props accessories, stray hairs...the list is endless and thank goodness I am a skilled multitasker. I might say, like most mums, I am also skilled at balancing homework, cooking dinner, putting the dog out, taking a call, and writing an email, all whilst letting the latest colour change hair dye process on my hair all at once. Amazing how we can do so many things at once!
My most favorite thing in the whole world is the light of my life, my bohemian wild child, Lucia. She is the reason I started my photography business. The very moment she was born, I felt the magnitude of the responsibility I now had to grow a strong woman from this teeny baby girl. I wanted to set an example to her to watch her mum do something in life that she loved. To go for your dreams, you only have this life. I can't put into words how proud it made me feel when she used to tell people her mummy was a Gratographer - made my heart go to mush. She now sadly says it correctly, they grow so fast and that is why I always make a point of capturing the mummy moments where I can for my clients because they are at the start of motherhood most of the time and simply do not know what they are going to miss about their baby or maternity bump in the years to come. From the teeny toes to the way they clench up a fist and shove it right under their chin with the strength of Godzilla.
I could write an essay about my crazy life and work but I am sure this is a good starter for ten, plus I need to keep some stuff back for our chat in the studio :) Look forward to meeting you soon at my Hertfordshire Award Winning Photography Studio in Stanstead Abbotts (where) well it's near Ware and Hertford, or a short drive from St Albans, Hatfield, Barnet and London.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A STUDIO SESSIONYou are welcomed into the studio. I will talk to you about what you would like out of your session, the colours you would like to incorporate and any props or poses you have seen that you would like to incorporate. Baby will be undressed and soothed off to sleep, I like to do this part as babies can smell their mothers milk (even if you are not breast feeding) and they will usually settle better with someone else. This also enables me to watch your babies sleep cycles and make the most from his/her deep sleeps. After the posing, we will do parent/sibling shots if wanted. I ask for any siblings desired to be included are brought to the session in the last hour to ensure we have had enough quiet time to get the poses for your gallery, but if you cannot have someone do this for you, you can bring them with you but just be mindful that if you have a two year old having a tantrum (I am not phased but this can impact the session). I usually get parents involved at various points, to help pose baby as I am a safety/baby first photographer and will ensure your baby is supported at all times when needed.

CAN WE CHOOSE COLOURS AND USE YOUR PROPSOf course! During your booking stage you will be asked for the colours you would like to be used as inspiration for your session. This is not a free for all as in pick every colour of the rainbow as your poor baby would be most upset with us changing colours all the time. But I use this information as inspiration to design your newborn session. I NEVER duplicate an exact portrait from another client as I want each client to go away with a standout portrait that is private and personal to them. I pride myself on being boutique not high street so you can rest assured of this little exclusivity. I will of course use same colours, props and even materials but I will always work a different take on an image you may have set your heart on to make sure its yours! I have way too many props (I swear it's an addiction!!) from cute beds to buckets, containers and chairs (one is even over 100 years old, and yes a few clients have tried to buy it off me hehe) and depending on the colours and styling of your session I will choose a few that will work in your set, however if you have seen or see a prop at your session that you would love, you can let me know and I will work it into your session!

Macro detail images, parent and sibling images all included. A full gallery will be shown at your viewing session for you to choose your desired package. IS MY BABY TOO OLD?I have had great successes with older babies, some have been as old as 18 weeks old. There is a difference in how much a baby will allow me to do. The younger, the more curled up poses and likeliness of asleep portraits. Older means more awake portraits and less curled up poses. All beautiful none the less. Book in as soon as you can ideally.

WHEN SHOULD YOU BOOK & AVAILABILITYPRE BOOK: The best time is after your have had your 20 week scan as this is when you will be given a firm due date, I ask that you choose your babys due month when booking ahead - this enables me to manage how many newborns I can take on each month as I only like to take on a maximum of 12 a month to make sure I can room in my diary for any early or late arrivals. Please book a date in the diary that is 2 weeks post baby's due date. You can log into your booking and move it to the following week if baby decides to have an extended staycation. If baby arrives early simply get in touch with me as soon as is possible to let me know baby has been born and what your situation is, If baby is in NICU etc you may both need an extended stay. My sweet spot is day 10/11 so I aim for this day wherever possible. LAST MINUTE: If you leave booking until your baby arrives, it's quite likely that I won't be able to fit you in until your baby is a couple of months old and I hate turning newborns away but availability preference is always given to existing bookings I do however once I've planned my month out with existing bookings release a small number of last-minute newborn sessions which you can book if you have not already booked ahead. Please visit the book in tab on a website and on a mobile device there is a button down the bottom, this is linked to my diary and up to date availability.

You are welcomed into the studio office to enjoy watching up to 30 images of your beautiful baby.
