Well...I am not entirely sure I have the words... Sometimes I feel like a newbie in this industry and then I am swiftly reminded that I have been doing this a long time. This little one and mum came back 6 years later (they have been back before this BUT) the contrast of these Mothers Day Sessions blew me away. Where do our babies go!!! Because you blink and they grow up. I never quite realised just how much all your babies are my babies too... I froze them in time, and it is totally unacceptable for them to change and grow up, as this means I, too, am getting older... It is actually my birthday this Friday, and it’s the one that pushes me closer to 50.....I am not sure how I feel about that!

Why are mums so wonderful?

Because a mum does something quite extraordinary that most of us only understand once we stop and really think about it.
A mum quite literally creates a human being from her own body. Every heartbeat, every tiny finger, every cell begins inside her. And even after birth, that connection does not simply stop. Her brain, hormones, and instincts remain wired to protect, comfort, and guide that child.

But the deeper reason mums feel so wonderful is not just biology. It is the constant, quiet acts of devotion that often go unnoticed.

A mum is usually the one who:
• stays awake when everyone else is asleep

• worries about problems before anyone else sees them

Childhood is so fleeting, and the newborn stage last a mere 6 weeks before they are more of an inquisitive baby learning and showing personality. Moving onto their first year, first steps and words… I wish I could tell you there was a pause button so you can take stock of it all but there really isn’t. Before you know it you are on thr phone to the receptionist for secondary school placements for details about summer school and you can still recall walking them by hand into reception. Time is unkind, us mothers barely get a chance to enjoy it amongst the constant need for nurturing them. My job is and has always come from a perspective of POV frozen in time before POV became a thing. I have always tried to and want to capture such magic for parents they can look back on and be transported back to this moment in time. Beautiful little @wynniefoxdiaries came to see me at just four weeks new, accompanied by her glamorous mum and proud Nanny. Four weeks. How has it already been four weeks?

As I finished her session, I walked out to check which secondary school my own daughter had been allocated. Allocation day. And in that moment, the contrast felt enormous.
